Elopement in Yosemite National Park in the Winter
This was Megan & Zach’s first time ever in Yosemite National Park & they fell in love with the place! They still wanted to share their ceremony with friends & family so they opted for a sort of hybrid wedding. They started with an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas with their friends & family, but also really wanted the views of Yosemite so they drove all the way to California to come out to Yosemite from Texas. They also spent time in Zion National Park. I just wanted to quote what Megan said about one of her photos she posted: “Not for a second do I regret forgoing the traditional way to say ‘I do’…I’ve gotten to explore through two beautiful national parks with my love..and that will forever outweigh a fancy wedding.” And I bet Megan won’t ever get your dress cleaned, she considers the dirt on it as a souvenir of the beautiful places they’ve been.
They got to experience some amazing places & just look at these amazing views! Such a simple day is enhanced by the natural surroundings of the falls & plains of Yosemite Valley, the looming presence of El Capitan, & the rounded peak of Half Dome. Being surrounded by nothing but nature is one of my favorite parts of adventurous elopements. I have a feeling that this Yosemite wedding is the first of many adventurous weddings & elopements that I get to photograph. I love nature & the wide open spaces of the outdoors & it just feels like to me that we were meant to get married outside!
