Sunset Taft Point Elopement in Yosemite National Park

Paul & Brittany had never been to Yosemite before even though they lived in California. They wanted a day that felt like them: a little adventurous & full of those “can’t stop smiling” moments. We met inside Yosemite National Park on a warm May afternoon. Our plan was skip the crowds when we could, but still go to some iconic Yosemite elopement locations, & end the night with a sky full of stars. If you’ve been dreaming about a Taft Point elopement or small Taft Point wedding, these photos just might inspire you to plan your own day!

First Look & Elopement Ceremony in Yosemite Valley

We kicked things off near Tunnel View, but not quite at Tunnel View. There’s a few tucked away spots close by where the crowds thin out & the views are still amazing. That’s where they had their first look. After taking a few minutes to really take in the views, we dropped into Yosemite Valley for their ceremony with El Capitan towering behind them.

It was a pleasantly warm, spring day in the valley, so after vows, they slipped their shoes off & cooled their feet in the river. On the way out, we made a couple of stops around Bridalveil Falls. Yeah, the main up-close overlook was busy. But yes, these photos were worth it! There are some places that are busy with people but even though they can be busy, these places are worth it. Yosemite is definitely a place where it’s worth it to brave the crowds but you can also find quieter areas to have your own more private moments.

Sunset Taft Point Elopement Photos

From there we made our way back toward the higher elevations of Yosemite National Park. Even though Taft Point was our plan for sunset, we just had to make a quick stop at Glacier Point. These views in Yosemite are just iconic & we had a little extra time for a quick stop here. Then we got ready for the hike out to Taft Point for their elopement. Sunset did its thing here!

The valley floor fell into shadow while the horizon kept glowing. The colors were changing from gold to pink as golden hour changed to blue hour. We lingered through blue hour & just didn’t want to leave this amazing cliffside overlook. I pulled out some lanterns as the evening got darker. If you’re wondering whether a Taft Point wedding lives up to the hype, YES, it absolutely does & there is something truly magical about Taft Point in Yosemite. Also I just love the golden dress. I mean, golden dress at golden hour? Yes please!

Stars Photos in Yosemite

Night didn’t end the adventure of the day though! We headed back to Glacier Point & they went stargazing in Yosemite. With the valley lights far below & an insane amount of stars overhead, we took our time enjoying the night sky.

Thinking about your own Taft Point elopement or an intimate Taft Point wedding? I’d love to help you craft a day that balances the iconic locations with the hidden hidden gems. Reach out, tell me what you’re dreaming up, & let’s plan your Yosemite adventure together!
