Western Colorado Summer Engagement Session

Sam & Cam are getting married next year & wanted to incorporate Colorado into their engagement photos since it is a big part of their lives together. There’s a reason everyone wants to come to western Colorado & the San Juan Mountains & by these photos, I’m sure you’ll see why! Maybe you’ll even want to come to western Colorado for engagement photos. 😉

Lakes & Red Mountains

One of my favorite things about summer is all of the alpine lakes you can access high up in the mountains of western Colorado. For Sam & Cam’s western Colorado engagement photos, we started down at a lower elevation lake a few hours before sunset to get some great views & reflective photos of the Red Mountains outside of Ouray along the Million Dollar Highway. After that we made our way up an off roading route that goes high into the Rocky Mountains in western Colorado. The San Juan Mountain regions are really known for their off roading oppurtunities. There’s everything from beginner friendly mild roads to much more advanced off roading routes. As we navigated the rugged terrain, we were met with panoramic vistas & the natural beauty that only remote areas like this can offer.

Staying Out For the Stars

After we off roading to areas around this mountain pass, we took some blue hour lantern photos along the way & then it was time to head back up to the top of the pass to wait for the Milky Way. We did a “champagne pop” with some sparkling water & we just got to hang out & chat for a bit while we waited for it to get very dark & for the Milky Way to rise a bit more into the sky.
