Bride and groom have a snowball fight during their wedding in Grand Lake, Colorado.

Snowy Grand Lake, Colorado Wedding at a Lodge in Winter

All I can say about Jackson & Sydney is that they were just FUN! My goal is always to capture couples for who they really are. Having a smaller wedding (like their Grand Lake, Colorado wedding) instead of a larger wedding can give you so much more time & flexibility to relax & get the photos that show off your personality as a couple.

Jackson & Sydney have actually known each other since kindergarten. They’ve been friends for a long time & eventually that friendship grew into something more. They have always been able to make each other laugh at some of the most random & small things. And even during their proposal, Sydney started making jokes & everybody was just laughing! I got to see some of that on their wedding day & I could tell they just has so much fun together throughout all the parts of their wedding in Grand Lake, Colorado.

Wedding Ceremony Overlooking Grand Lake

Jackson & Sydney got ready in the beautifully decorated lodge right along the shores of Grand Lake. They, their friends, & family all came together to decorate the beautiful space. Sydney & her dad had a private little first look together right before the ceremony. Their ceremony was perfect for them. It was heartfelt but also included some humor! After their ceremony, Jackson & Sydney shared their special handshake together.

Photos in Rocky Mountain National Park

Grand Lake is right near some of the western entrances to Rocky Mountain National Park. I had scouted out some trails that we could go on that were just a little drive from the house they were staying at. They had fun in the snow, popped some sparkling water, & laughed a lot! They really wanted to have a snowball fight & early December the snow can be a bit iffy in this part of Colorado but we got some awesome fresh snow just in time for their wedding day.

Reception at the Lodge in Grand Lake

After their wedding & taking photos in the park, they had a fun & simple reception back at the house. They personalized their desserts, had a champagne toast, & Scott Meiss, the private chef, prepared an EXCELLENT dinner & appetizers for them & their guests. Sydney put together their charcuterie board & did such an amazing job! Their Grand Lake wedding was everything they wanted & it just goes to show why more & more couples are choosing to have small weddings & elopements!

My (now) husband and I were so nervous about having photos taken of us because we are both so unnatural & awkward in front of the camera. This all quickly subsided as soon as we met Malachi! He has such a friendly & natural presence & way of making you feel instantly comfortable around him. Not only this, but he truly went above & beyond on our wedding day in Grand Lake. He tied my husband’s bow tie, helped decorate our cake with greenery when I was running behind, provided us hand warmers &spikes for our shoes so we’d be comfortable while hiking to get photos, the list goes on! On top of all this, I must say the photos are absolutely incredible; they perfectly captured the beauty of the scenery while still somehow keeping the focus on us. They are everything I could have hoped for & more, & people are still raving about how beautiful they are. Malachi truly blew away any & all expectations & hopes I had for our experience & I am forever grateful we chose him for our wedding day!! –Sydney & Jackson
