Gold Mountain Ranch is a mountain wedding venue in Ouray, Colorado & is one of my favorite places to shoot at as a wedding photographer in Ouray! In these small mountain towns in western Colorado, it can be hard to find a venue that has everything you want. Gold Mountain Ranch is ran by great people, has incredible views of the San Juan Mountains, & is overall one of the best wedding venues in Colorado if you ask me.
This wedding venue in Ouray is such a beautiful spot to get married at or hold a post elopement reception at. There’s not really a ton of wedding venue options in Ouray, but this one really takes the cake! Situated right on the side of a mountain, high up, & overlooking the quaint little mountain town of Ouray, Colorado, this venue is just in a gorgeous spot. You can get amazing views of the mountains & valleys from up here & it’s easy for guests to access. It gets them into the mountains without any off-roading or hiking required.

Gold Mountain Ranch is perfect for intimate weddings, elopements, & for having a reception or after party after your elopement. You can have up to 40 guests comfortable here on site. There is also lodging available & the house can easily sleep up to 18 people. This venue is located high up on the side of a mountain in Ouray at high elevation, so because of this, the venue is available seasonally from spring through fall.

An Iconic Mountain Top Wedding Venue in Ouray
Rick & Sandra, the owners of Gold Mountain Ranch, wanted to create a space for people to use that would be a beautiful backdrop for people to create special memories of their wedding day.
Getting to the venue is a fun little adventure in itself! You arrive at the base of the mountain to the big gates at the road that leads up to the venue perched on the side of the mountain. Drive the switchbacks up the mountain road to arrive at The Wilmont & some of the best views of Ouray.
The venue has a wrap around deck, large windows that let in a ton of light, a full suite that is perfect for you to stay in + take getting ready photos in, & large outdoor area with great views of the San Juan Mountains & the Ouray valley in every direction.
The venue is also not far from many other scenic spots that you can go to for photos such as Yankee Boy Basin, the Ouray Perimeter Trail, Cascade Falls, & the via ferrata. But you don’t even need to leave the venue for great scenery!

The venue at Gold Mountain Ranch in Ouray offers a lot of different spaces that make for great photo opportunities. The areas at & around Gold Mountain include the large suite with perfect natural lighting coming in through the floor to ceiling windows, the surrounding decks that offer panoramic views, a large central dining area & kitchen, & an expansive outdoor area with a lawn, fire pit, & excellent views of the town of Ouray, Colorado.
Interior Spaces
This suite offers you a great place to get ready in & has beautiful natural light that make photos in here turn out very well. The house can sleep up to 18 guests on-site comfortably & there’s enough space to hold an intimate wedding ceremony & reception in this one location. There is a large kitchen, great for yourselves or for private chefs or catering, & an elevator in the home to made it accessible for everyone.
Decks & Outdoor Areas
This suite offers you a great place to get ready in & has beautiful natural light that make photos in here turn out very well. There are a lot of wooden accents, a large bed, & multiple mirrors for you & your wedding party to use. It also has its own bathroom & offers a place for couples to stay if you want lodging on site for your wedding day.
The Best Times to Get Married at Gold Mountain Ranch
Since Gold Mountain Ranch is only accessible seasonally from spring through fall, the best times to get married here are during the late spring through the fall months. If you want the best weather June through the end of September is going to be my recommendation. Keep in mind that the “monsoon season” in the San Juan Mountains starts in spring & goes throughout June & July. Mid summer does see a decent amount of rain in these mountains. But the good thing is that the rain storms don’t come & sit & dump all day, the rain storms move through quite quickly, usually in 30 minutes or sometimes less. So you just have to wait out the rain & then it’ll be nice again! The Wilmont at Gold Mountain Ranch is a great option for a wedding venue in Ouray because of the indoor & outdoor options.
More Info About the Ouray, Colorado Area
Ouray, Colorado is my personal FAVORITE little mountain town in Colorado. While I can appreciate that others enjoy places like Telluride or Aspen, I really enjoy the slower pace of Ouray. It is remote & quiet, but doesn’t feel isolated with areas like Ridgway, Montrose, or even Grand Junction not too far away. If you’re traveling to Ouray & you need to fly in, usually I recommend looking into the Grand Junction & Ouray airports.
Another reason I love Ouray is the easy access to all of the outdoor areas. From hiking & off roading, to via ferratas & rock or ice climbing, & winter sports like snowmobiling or cross country skiing, I’m never out of things to do in Ouray. This small mountain town is full of life with places such as the Ouray Brewery, Colorado Boy, or Mouse’s being local favorites.
